Fire guards are required to reduce the threat of fires in a variety of locations. For example, fire guards are used when a sprinkler system is not installed, e.g., at construction sites or when an automatic fire protection system is taken out of service while repairs are being conducted.
Fire guards are responsible for making certain that fire safety regulations are complied with.
This certificate course offers training required to perform fire guard duties at locations within Nassau and Suffolk counties. In addition, the training course provides the student with test preparation toward the New York City Fire Safety Personnel test (previously known as the Citywide Fire Guard Test). The instructor will cover study and test material, practical exams and pertinent information regarding the NYC Fire Department application process.
